Cedar Park, TX -
CEDAR PARK, TX - The Cedar Park Lacrosse Club held their year-end banquet last night at the Twin Creeks Country Club. In addition to thanking those who helped the program this year and honoring the accomplishments of the team, individual recognition was given to several Cedar Park players.
Varsity recognition went to Rylan Gilley as the Defensive MVP, Ryan Fairclough for Offensive MVP and Chris Asher for Varsity Team MVP. Alex Lee was awarded the "Warrior Within" trophy, given each year to the player who most exhibits the qualities desired in a Timberwolf lacrosse player.
On the JV side, Michael Overstreet was the JV Defensive MVP, Grant Zulkowski was the Offensive MVP, Sean Barnett was the overall JV Team MVP and Jonathan O'Hara was recognized as the most improved JV player.
The team celebrated their ascent to the Division I finals in their first year as a DI team, and bid farewell to 15 seniors with a moving video of their time in the Cedar Park Lacrosse Club. The night was interrupted with a loud applause break when it was announced that the 5th and 6th grade middle school "Black" team won the Central Texas Youth Lacrosse League championship, played the same night, by a final score of 10-7 vs. Westlake. Cedar Park fielded their first middle school teams this year, exploding in growth with four middle school teams made up of Cedar Park Middle School students or 5th graders who will be at CPMS next year.
Coach Chris Knight recognized all players for their hard work and looked forward to next year as the team picks up where it left off. |
