AUSTIN, TX - The Cedar Park boys lacrosse team came to House Park field last night seeking revenge for their 7-2 loss to Bowie on February 5. CP avoided another blowout, but the end result was the same.
Cedar Park struck first in every quarter of the game, but Bowie came back with matching goals and more for most of the game. The score was 2-1 Bowie after one period, 7-4 at halftime, 12-8 after the third quarter before ending with a 15-12 loss for Cedar Park.
“I thought we played well tonight”, said Coach Chris Knight after the game. “We had a few hiccups with broken passes, but we played good team lacrosse most of the night.”
Stephen Smith had four goals and an assist in the loss while Chris Asher had a balanced performance with three goals and three assists in the game. Ryan Fairclough had a goal and two assists. Jared Lictenberger, Jason Teal, Gerad Stratton and Zach Duncan each had a goal in the loss. Defensively, Rylan Gilley scooped 10 ground balls, many of them while working faceoff duty, Holden Ilseng had five and Joel Millikan, Austin Coleman and Austin Mueller each had one ground ball apiece.
Cedar Park finishes the regular season at Westlake next Thursday night at 8:00PM. They are looking better at earning a playoff spot despite the recent two losses.
